This is an interview with Eddie Hitchens, recorded while we walked London. I kept the mask on. It was the first take. The conversation belongs to the Hustler Club audience as much as to the public channel, which is why it sounds like two men talking and not like a studio segment.
I am not going to invent Eddie's face on a cover or describe a man I did not put on camera. Two microphones and his name are enough. The episode is the walk. Hear how he talks about street attraction when he is moving, not when he has had a week to write the answer.
First take matters to me. A second take is where people sand the interesting parts off. If he corrects himself, if I interrupt, if the street noise sits under a sentence, that is the recording I wanted. Street attraction discussed on a street is the right room for it. A desk would have made it tidier and worse.
Listen for the practical disagreements more than for the moments we agree. Agreement is easy to clip. The useful part of an interview is where his experience of the street does not match the line I would have said alone. That is why I brought him on instead of recording another monologue.
